How to Use Bleach for Laundry

Clorox® Bleach helps keep whites their whitest. Just follow the instructions below.

For Front-Loading Machines:

  1. Add
    Add your favorite detergent to the washing machine before adding bleach or clothes.
  2. Fill
    Fill the bleach dispenser to the max fill line with Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach, or add 1/2 cup (125 ml) of bleach directly to the washing machine.
  3. Add
    Add white clothes and begin the wash cycle. Ensure contact with bleach for at least 10 minutes.

For Top-Loading Machines:

  1. Add
    Add your favorite detergent to the washing machine before adding clothes or bleach.
  2. Fill
    Fill the bleach dispenser to the max fill line with Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach, or add 1/2 cup (125 ml) of bleach directly to the washing machine.
  3. Add
    Add white clothes and begin the wash cycle. Ensure contact with bleach for at least 10 minutes.
After you wash a load of clothing with bleach, it should be safe to follow with a regular load. As long as your washing machine is functioning properly there shouldn’t be any bleach residue inside, so any non-bleachable items you wash next should be unaffected.
